Oh too cute! Just so happened I was browsing egg incubators when I took a break to read your blog!
Awww, they're so adorable - we left behind three real chickens when we sold our house in SA - Hermoine, Luna and Ginny, so maybe I'll mention this to Sapphire and see if she wants to make some fabric replacements.
I have that pattern and have gotten as far as cutting it out, They do write their patterns very clearly so you could try give it a go, I am a beginner sewer, gaining confidence every day.
